Fergburger - one of the best burgers I have ever had

Before our trip to New Zealand, I had been doing the usual research looking for the things that will make our holiday memorable. From reading blogs, the usual travel websites like trip advisor and some newspaper articles, there was an unquestionable burger joint we were adding to our list - Fergburger. Is this place touristy as hell - yes. Will you queue for a substantial amount of time - yes. Will you enjoy this burger to no end - ABSOLUTELY.
We were slightly deterred when we rocked up and saw the queue at lunchtime, however decided to stick it out and see what all the hype is about. That is a typical human syndrome that we all have, curiosity, the need to succumb to a fad for fear of missing out. It is nothing to be ashamed of especially when you get to taste a burger as wonderful as the ones we had at Fergburger. Yes ones, multiple, we went back again as we had a hit and needed more.
All of their burgers have the same staple additions of lettuce, tomato, red onion and aioli (garlic mayonnaise) on every burger. I had the Cock Cajun which is a chicken burger marinated with cajun spices topped with lemon yoghurt and above. Denver had The Codfather, a tempura battered cod burger with tartare. On the second day I tried the Bombay Chicken which is chicken marinated in chilli, ginger and coriander yoghurt and cucumber riata with a splodge of mango chutney. While I would never usually go for a burger like this as it sounds so odd, I was so confident with how good the day befores was that I knew you couldn't go wrong, luckily I was right! Denver had the Cockadoodle Oink minus the oink. This burger has a crumbed chicken breast, bacon, avocado and a tangy tomato relish. You can find the full menu down the end of this article.

Fergburger opened in 2001 and despite the success and fame of their incredible gourmet burgers, they have stuck with the one location and have not expanded thus far. This is a good thing in my opinion as it gives a unique feel to their shop on Shotover Street and people know they have to come to Queenstown to witness this revelation. Whilst you may think I am being dramatic, I can safely say I do not joke when it comes to food. Get to Fergburger and try it out for yourself, you will not be disappointed.
I just read on their website that they are now open 21 hours of every day (8am-5am) so there is never really a moment to miss out. Personally, I am not so sure I would eat a burger at 8am but obviously the demand is there if that is the selected opening time.
