Wow, wow, wow!!! I had read about this particular afternoon tea at the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on various forums and it sounded like a lovely experience. My partners Mum and sister were visiting for a week so I booked us girls in one day as a nice treat for them. There were 2 options to choose from - afternoon tea in the Colonial Cafe or in the Orchid conservatory. I went with the Orchid conservatory which was slightly more expensive, we were not disappointed.

The room was quite small and intimate and there were the most beautiful variations of orchids surrounding the walls. I don't think I have ever been in such a pretty room before. Our server was wearing a crisp white jacket with shirt and black tie. He greeted us then took our Twining's tea order. It was quite a spectacle when he came back with our choices. We were all given a teapot which was placed on top of a heated metal tray and a timer so we knew exactly when our tea was perfectly brewed! The savory and sweet selections were presented on a 3-tier rose gold display and they were all delicious, my favourite being the mini Eton Mess.
There were plenty of vegetarian options and if you let the hotel know before hand they can fully cater for gluten free or vegan persons. We really enjoyed the experience and I would go back for sure. FYI - there is also champagne to make it an even better day out with the girls! For the three of us it was 300RM ($70USD) which is a total steal for what is usually a costly affair.
If you would like to go via public transport, you can take the KTM train from KL Sentral to Kuala Lumpur station on either the Batu Caves or Tanjung Malim lines . It is one stop then a short 800m walk to the hotel.
