My partner discovered Roti Banjir a couple of months ago on a list of must try Malay dishes and introduced me to it when I came back to Malaysia in October. It is a local Indian breakfast and it literally translates as "Flooded Bread" which is a perfect description for this dish.

The basic concept is hand made roti bread as a base served on a metal tray that looks like it is from a hospital, then it is usually covered in dahl (a term in the Indian subcontinent for dried, split pulses) curry and sambal. It is then topped with two half boiled eggs which contributes alot to the "flooded term". Each restaurant will have their own take on this but mostly the flavours and tastes are mouth watering. It is messy and very wet but it is one of the most delicious, dishes that exists!

You will find that when you go in to a Malay or Indian restaurant here in Malaysia, you won't see this on any menu so you need to just order it anyway. How to order this in Malay:

Roti Banjir, dua roti, dahl, curry, sambal dan telur sparu masak
