I have had friends going to hot yoga for years but it never appealed to me. I am not great at dealing with high heat never mind working out in it therefore always declined when asked along. I have been going to the gym three times a week when I can, however it does become slightly tedious for me doing the same thing over and over. Hard to please I know!

I started to look into other forms of exercise and hot yoga just kept creeping up. I decided to give it a try, as you never know until you do. I booked myself and Denver in to Metta Yoga Studio in Subang Jaya for an 8am class last Sunday morning.

We received such a lovely welcome from the owners and were given a full introduction and a tour of the small studio. The decor was nice and simple and really clean with lots of greenery. It was the perfect yoga environment. The hot yoga room was nice and big with large heaters overhead creating a comfortable temperature. I was expecting it to be super hot as the name would suggest. We got our mats and took our spot and the instructor Faye introduced herself. She had a killer body and was so enthusiastic. I thought if that is what happens when you do yoga full time then hopefully I will enjoy it.

Luckily that is exactly what happened. I loved it! Faye was really helpful throughout the class, uttering words of encouragement and adjusting what I thought were already on point positions - I guess not. It was definitely tough at times and lots of moments where I considered retreating from Downward Dog and staying in Child's Pose forever however when you push yourself the feeling at the end is incredible. I am not sure my mat would agree being completely covered in my sweat. Despite the aches throughout my shoulders and back and pretty much my entire body the day or two afterwards, I re-booked us in for the following week.

Below is a chart to help distinguish between the different poses. There are so many and some sound the same as a lot end in 'asana' so it is always helpful to have a visual before you take a class.
