Denver surprised me for our 6 year anniversary with a night away in the 5* Mandarin Oriental Hotel in KLCC. We had always walked by this hotel when we went to the twin towers or Suria KLCC shopping centre taking pictures as we passed of the flashy Lamborghini's, Ferrari's and Porsche's parked outside the hotel, never did I think we would be staying here.

He booked us in to an executive room with full club lounge access. We checked in and were told we could avail of the complimentary lunch that is served from 12-2. It was a full buffet with sandwiches, fresh fruit and juices, breads, pastries and a mini selection desserts. It was all so nicely presented. On one side of the room you had views of the twin towers, on the other, a full view of KLCC park.

Following lunch you could have complimentary afternoon tea from 2.30-4pm which was a mini selection of cheeses, pastries and desserts. Basically lunch part II.

We went to our room and dropped our things. The room was lovely - big bed, huge bathroom and stunning views of KLCC park. We got ready and went down to the pool area on level 3 for a couple of hours and had some cocktails and nibbles. It was a lovely setting overlooking some of the cities high rise buildings. In the changing rooms/bathrooms on this floor are a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. You will also find a gym, outdoor tennis courts, a hair salon and even an indoor golf course. This place really has everything you could need for a night away.

We went back up to the room and got ready and made our way back down to the Club lounge for cocktail hour. They served complimentary alcohol from beers to whisky and canapes from 5-7pm. The waiters were all lovely and looked after everyone very well.

Cocktail Hour at The Club Lounge

We may have had one too many drinks that night so were a little bit fragile and couldn't fully avail of the breakfast the next morning in the Club Lounge however it was an impressive spread. I was highly disappointed as everything looked amazing and breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. A fresh juice was about as much as either of us can handle. The highs and lows of a very happy couple of hours! We had an amazing time here and would love to go back again as soon as possible.
